  Oakland City Council unanimously voted to approve the Encampment Management Policy, meant to “protect and serve all Oaklanders, sheltered and unsheltered, and to manage the adverse impacts of homeless camps by balancing the interests of all residents (i.e. unhoused, housed, business community).”

  In fact, this policy was intended to reinforce laws that are already in existence in Oakland, but that are not being enforced by the city.

  The city is putting their incompetence and negligence on full display for all to see. Somebody died 100 yards from this site because the law was not enforced and the city was negligent.

  Why is your department allowing this after 5½ years since the City of Oakland launched the Department of Race and Equity?
