Beschreibung
Smyrna's Market Village is a very nice and busy area with alot of foot traffic, however the crosswalks are not properly marked nor are the one way streets causing people to go the wrong way. The attached photo is directly in front of City Hall. However, there are at least three others on West Spring Street that's aren't properly marked. They have city signs warning people about pedestrians, but not legal traffic signs like in the REAR PARKING LOT of City Hall. Police say it's a real problem and hard to enforce since there aren't legal street signs posted.

Yes!
The City Engineer reviewed and has recommended to install two mounted signs in the center of the roadway on each crosswalk from City Hall to the Market Village alerting traffic about pedestrians crossing. Currently there are 4 signs within the downtown Market Village cautioning the same to motorists.
Thank you for your input and caring to make Smyrna a great city to live in.

Signs have been installed where they were needed (King Street walkways to Market Village). The City of Smyrna will not be installing any more signs within the Market Village. Traffic speed at the intersections of the fountain area is controlled by means of the elevated walkway to and from businesses and fountain.
Again thank you for your concern in making Smyrna a safe place.

The 4 signs within the downtown Market Village area do caution for pedestrian traffic to motorists and are visual to a motorist driving in the downtown area. In addition motorists within these streets tend to move slower looking for parking spaces or just looking to see what is in the Market Village. The street elevations at the various locations within the downtown area also assist with the slow traffic movement, not only making them aware of the pedestrian traffic but als avoiding damage to their car if they are moving too fast over these elevations.

The raised crosswalks at Zucca's and Atkins Park prevent traffic from "flying thru" the Market Village. In addition, the traffic of people and cars going and coming is also a traffic calmer on its own.
Perhaps a consideration would be to organize a voluteer downtown Market Village Safety Group for the purpose of prevention addressing your concern of someone getting hurt.
Thank you again for your concern in making Smyrna a safe place.
