There had been work being done on the water main at the Wabash & Cullerton intersection. They have dug up the road and it is covered with metal plates where the hole is. However, there has been no work done here in several weeks. In addition, there is construction material that has been on the street (it is blocked off by barricades, but it has just been sitting there). Is this work ever going to be finished?

Tom LaPorte, here, from the Department of Water Management. Here is what I have learned: We started a water main job with a couple of test holes, but then learned that the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) was resurfacing a nearby street as part of an unrelated project. Rather than further crowd the neighborhood, we pulled off the job and sent our crew elsewhere until CDOT could finish.
I am told they are almost done, and within two weeks we will be back on the water main project. We expect it to take about 8 weeks total, follwed by restoration. Before we start, a full packet of information will be distributed to neighbors, and a letter will go out later today repeating what you see here.
We apologize for any confusion and appreciate everyone understanding. If you have any questions, please call me directly at 312-742-1029.
Thanks,
Tom
