Hello. My insurance company asked that the sidewalk in front of the home/at the bottom of the driveway (13 Saint James Street) be repaired by June 11 for safety reasons. Please let me know if this is feasible and timing around completion of this request? Thank you!

We understand that the long-awaited re-paving of Armory St. is under way and we are quite grateful. However, I earlier notified Public works that two driveway aprons on the lower end of Armory are substandard and need to be addressed before new paving has begun. We have received no messages concerning the replacement of these aprons. Please let us know what can be done to ensure a quality job.

There are 2 areas in need of repair. This is one area right by a tree recently removed by the town last autumn. The other area is further down the sidewalk, also raised, but not visible in this picture. Both present a significant tripping hazard

Since this was still not fixed my father has hurt his back. We had to spray paint it so people can see the hazard. It was acknowledged and accepted for repair 9 months ago? Hamden needs to do better. I will be contacting other resources since it is not be taken care of.

  • 265-265 Treadwell St Town of Hamden, CT, 06517, USA - Hamden
The Farmington Canal Trail is great, but getting to it is very dangerous. We refer to the portion of Treadwell Street from the intersection with Leeder Hill Road to the Canal Trail trailhead as "suicide alley". There is no sidewalk on either side of the street. Too many drivers drive too fast, and the road is way too narrow where it crosses a small stream.
Mather Street, from Martin Terrace westward, is equally dangerous, with no sidewalk. The area of Waite Street that traverses the lakes is a lovely place to walk, but also dangerous. Again, no sidewalks.
Whitneyville would be a lot nicer if there were continuous sidewalks on all of the streets. Our taxes are absurdly high (by far, our largest single monthly expense) and we can't help wondering what we are paying for.
