Need some sort of flashing lights on the stop signs at Ada and Chicago Ave. Such lights on the stop signs are being used in many other neighborhoods ... some have just one flashing light on the top of the stop sign and some even have lights all the way around the stop sign. I live and work by this intersection and can see and hear cars slamming on their brakes on a daily basis because the drivers don't notice the stop signs. I've also seen a few close calls with pedestrians as this crossing is located between a school and the park. I'd hate to see someone get hurt before something gets done about it.

Drivers ignore the stop sign on Rockwell @ Glenlake and/or break speed limit at dangerous levels in front of church. Elderly citizens cross the street frequently, many small children live in the block, and I have personally almost been hit twice. Accidents have occurred at this location as a result of speeding. Street is used as a shortcut to get to Peterson.

State & Marina City Chicago, IL 60654, USA - Chicago Ward 42
State Street between Kinzie and the river was repaved but the mid block crosswalk between Marina Towers and the former IBM Plaza was never repainted. We've been without a marked crosswalk for more than two months now. The signs are still up but no crosswalk markings.

  • 935 N Elston Ave Chicago, IL 60622 - Chicago Ward 27
After emerging from beneath the Metra tracks (in either direction) the bike lane shifts left of a parking lane. Automobiles park in the bike lane for hours at a time because it is not clear where the parking officially begins.
  • 666 W Irving Park Rd Chicago, IL - Chicago Ward 46

Clanking noise from a grated sewer cover since the spring or 2011. The round cover is located in the SW corner of the intersection of Irving Park Road and N. Pine Grove Ave (see photo). The noise is caused every time an east-bound vehicle rolls over this sewer cover, causing a clanking sound that I can clearly hear from my east-side unit at Lake Park Plaza. 311 was called to report to the Chicago Dept. of Water but no response to date.

NOTE: Though some "adjustment" to the cover was done late summer 2011, the noise level returned within a month of this "repair." Therefore, issue remains the same.

I am a parent of a Cps student who attends Collins located at 1313 S Sacramento in Chicago, I am contacting you about safety issues of all the students that have to cross that street to get to their school and I would like to request pedestrians horses places out in the middle of the street so the speeding traffic can slow down and let the students cross the street, Monday through Friday when i drop my son off at school i see how these kids are about to get hit by all the speeding motorist, They need the horses placed to slow the traffic down. The city have the horses placed for the students going To Uic campus on Roosevelt and Halsted and our children are just important as theirs

Please put out the pedestrians horses up and down Sacramento for the safety of the children. there are no crossing guards for Collins High school students

For drivers as well as pedestrians and cyclists, traffic around the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) campus can get congested and confusing at times at busy locales such as the intersection of Taylor and Wood Streets and on Harrison Street near University Hall and student dormitories. So confusing, in fact, that a 2002 study by the Chicago Department of Transportation concluded the Taylor and Wood intersection needed a stoplight.

Previous 2nd Ward Alderman Madeline Haithcock had barred the idea as too costly, so since then UIC Police have placed vertical yellow signs in the streets at both locales that urge drivers to watch for pedestrians. The signs say, “State law, yield within crosswalk,” and have a drawing of a pedestrian. Bill Burton, UIC News Bureau director, said, “The signs are intended to remain in place at all times but sometimes are removed because they were struck by a car or were stolen.” He added UIC has not compiled statistics to determine whether the signs have increased or decreased collisions at these intersections.

“Anecdotal reports of close calls and near misses and concern for pedestrian safety,” prompted UIC to install the signs Burton said. “UIC Police are writing tickets where violations occur, like for not coming to a complete stop or making an improper turn. They are enforcing the signs. The signs are a good idea.”

Chicago Police Commander Dennis Keane of the 12th District agreed the current signs “seem to do the job. From what I see people seem to honor the signs. When they see people, they stop.”

  • 7300-7358 U.S. 41 Chicago, IL 60649, USA - South Shore

Several patched areas in the street directly in front of 7334 S. South Shore Drive. I am experiencing street vibrations and my home is shaking due to these vibrations when buses or cars pass my home. We need help to ensure that all of US 41 is repaired and our homes, families and neighbors are safe traveling this route. This is an emergency situation. Repairs performed in June 2010 are caving in.

There is a sewer cover in front of 7340 S. South Shore Drive which is in need of a restriction device to manage storm water. All other recently repaired drains have restriction devices allowing water to pool at the curbs and gradually enter sewer system.

    We need help.

    Thanks for your Attention

This storm sewer is blocked, and the entire intersection gets flooded when it rains.
  • 804 - 836 W. Lakeside Chicago, IL - Chicago Ward 46
Alley is not graded correctly & sinkholes are forming, leading to creative solutions on the part of local residents to manage stormwater.
