8201 16th St Nw Silver Spring, MD 20910, USA - Takoma Park
Even though they have a green light and right of way, drivers going northbound on 16th street through circle risk getting hit by cars approaching on the left, that fail to stop at intersection crossing to get to US29/Colesville Road

The North Portal Open1599 North Portal Dr Nw Washington, DC 20012, USA/8200 16th Street, NW, DC, - Silver Spring
The North Portal to the District of Columbia, the crossroads between DC, Downtown Silver Spring, MD, and Rock Creek Park is a dangerous place to drive, walk, to cross the street, and ride a bicycle. Poor sight lines, bad landscaping, inaccessible sidewalks (when there are sidewalks), poor traffic controls, confusing and distracting municipal and commercial signage, jurisdictional conflicts between law enforcement/EMS.

Traffic disaster Open1601 N Portal Dr Nw Washington D.C., DC 20012, USA - Silver Spring
This is a very confusing circle where accidents occure frequently. Normally traffic in a circle has right of way, but here it is unclear who has right of way and there are accidents frequently.
-

The grass in both these circle parks is very high. It's almost imposible to go there with kids and the mosquitoes are out of control. Will the city please cut the grass?

24th Street Nw Between Pennsylvania Ave And New Hampshire Ave Nw Washington, DC - Petworth
DAILY, where K Street NW meets 24th Street NW, the traffic going into and out of the city at rush hour block the intersection, preventing those going north/south on 24th from crossing K, making a left onto K going west. Also, the light on s/b 24th Street turns too fast for those of us going n/b on 24th to make a left onto K Street NW.
-
4200 Kansas Avenue Northwest Washington, District of Columbia - Petworth
-
Piney Branch & Sheridan Ave Nw Washington, DC - Brightwood
Cars do not stop for pedestrians at this busy crosswalk. During off-peak hours, this isn't a problem, but many people cross this as a part of their morning or evening commute. Please at least install one of those neon pylons on the center line to remind drivers of their legal obligation to yield to pedestrians.
-
Blair Street NW, Washington, DC - Fort Totten-Upper Northeast
Drivers frequently speed on Blair Road, NW. More speeding enforcement is needed. Drivers ignore the "turn only" late at Blair & Aspen. Drivers continue in the right turn only lane through the intersection and then cut over, creating a safety hazard.

Street Repair OpenTaylor And 13th Nw washington, dc - Petworth
For the past 5 years (or longer) there is a significant, bone-rattling dip on taylor street, just west of 13th. It's unavoidable, as it takes up most of the block from side to side. It also involves a manhole. It appears maintenance was done there involving the sever system, but the road was never repaired. Like I said, I moved to the area in March 2006, and it already existed then.
THe city repaved the street and now the situation is worse because the manhole cover is a good three inches lower than everything else. The manhole needs to be raised flush with the street paving.

3701 16th Street Northwest Washington, District of Columbia - Columbia Heights
For clarification: I reported this here yesterday, and there has been some work to fix one of the many enormous potholes on 16th street within that block, but it was not the trench I was referring to - that trench still remains trecherous and uncared for.
There is a pothole on 16th St. that is larger (both wider and longer) than the size of a sedan due to ongoing road construction. For several weeks, it was a mound which I jokingly referred to as the largest, unmarked speed bump in the city. Some work was done to the area and it is no longer a mound, but a trench with several, deep potholes within the trench itself, and it doesn't matter how slowly you drive over it, you will still hit each dent with a bang. I have to drive over or around this every day on both my morning and evening commutes, as it is in the lane open for south bound commuters during the morning rush and open to northbound commuters during the evening rush. I have witnessed fender benders and bottlenecking as a result, and my drive has become noticably longer as a result of the delays this causes. I'm sure my poor tires are much worse for the wear as well. Please fix!
