Would you please ask the plow crew to open up the street/sidewalk interface at the corner of Chadwick and Bramhall? Because the corner is an acute angle the plows generally don't get close to the edge of the pavement. Snow and ice build up and it is very difficult to get from the edge of the sidewalk to the open street. I tried to explain this to the public works dispatcher, but he didn't get it - he wanted to send a sidewalk plow. This is on the street. Thank you.

Corner Of Bramhall Street And Brackett Street Portland, Maine - Portland

Recently, "Dig Safe" markings have shown up on sidewalks in this and other nearby locations. The markings are inside an 18: x 18" space where a city parking sign already exists.

Please tell me these are NOT areas destined for new 'Pay and Display' parking kiosks. There is already a deficit of free parking for area residents because of the growing impact of Maine Medical Center. Day and night, I already need to park a block or more away from my residence.

    Any information would be appreciated.

At leadr 2 lg branches came down last night blocking a substantial part of the sidewalk outside Salvage BBQ.
  • Vaughn And Danforth Intersection Portland, Maine - Portland
Only 2 of the 5 stop signs placed at this busy intersection have the "three way stop" sign added on. Surely this helps explain the number of times I have barely avoided accidents while trying to take my turn! It does not explain the imitation stops (just passing through .....) favored by drivers on Danforth.

The stop sign at this location is jutting out into the street.

The street sign outside has always been tipped over into the street. Periodically, citizens or PW straightens it out. Most recently, someone removed the sign and placed it on the grass. When you replace the sign, would you consider cutting off the bent bottom portion of the pole which seems to guarantee it will tip again. Also, consider placing it in a slightly different location - all the brick and rock in the current hole have not done the trick.
    Thank you.

Would you please aid the melting process along with some attention to the corner of Bramhall and Chadwick? Both handicapped ramps are still under ice, and the street drain on Chadwick street is blocked.
    Thank you

This section of Chadwick St. could use some your "targeted" snow removal. The street is only wide enough for single lane traffic, creating significant back ups at the entrance to the Maine Med Parking Lot. This is particularly true now that MMC is screening who gains access to the parking lot. Thank you1

Maine Med's contractor, "Glidden" creates interim snow piles that they manage in the days following storms - usually at night.
This year they have routinely blocked a large part of the intersection and therefore the sidewalk/crosswalk.
"Access" to the sidewalk currently starts 12 feet or so from the curb, and the cut I made in it is not accessible.
This part of Bramhall St. is now densely populated, plus has the daily traffic of all sorts from MMC.
Their practice also blocks residential parking. Construction equipment used at night to remove "interim" piles of snow is very interruptive.
Could you take a couple of swipes at the pile this morning so the sidewalk can be accessed?
    Thank you, Anne Peters
