  • City Trees Archiviert
527 Carnarvon St New Westminster, British Columbia - New Westminster
As part of the Novare Development approval, trees were to be installed along all along Sixth Street and Carnarvon Street. The sidewalks were created with spaces for trees. They were never installed, and now there are wood plates in the holes where trees should have been planted. Just because the Developer sold the building, should not mean the original requirements not be fulfilled. The building was completed almost a year ago.

The planters at Begbie Square were emptied last summer, as they were unsightly. Now, most have filled with water and rotting leaves. They will become a breeding ground for mosquitoes next spring, which will pose a danger to pets and residents. If the City is not willing to maintain them, like they do at The Quay, then perhaps they should be removed.
  • 527 Carnarvon New Westminster, British Columbia - New Westminster
The Novare construction site has been dumping water into the storm drain for over a year. Why has this constant water source not been tied into the system properly? It seems implausible that The City would approve this as a solution to their underground water source. It has been reported a number of times, as it is a liablity to the City once temperatures drop. It has never been resolved.

  • 527 Carnarvon New Westminster, British Columbia - New Westminster
There is once again water pouring all over the intersection at 6th Street and Carnarvon from the Novare development. After 18 months, surely they can come up with a solution for their underground water issue than to dump it on the street. It is a hazard.

No one takes responsibility for maintaining the large planters at Begbie Square. The City denies responsibility and so does the Provincial Gov't. As a result, the flowers that used to be planted every spring are not, and this year, even the weeds and garbage and cigarette butts remain. The City did a lot of maintenance of the Square last year, but did not touch the planters. They are currently an eyesore.
