Shrubs and trees blocking sidewalk Archiviert1019 Fairmont St Nw - Columbia Heights
These are blocking the sidewalk on the north side of Fairmont St NW 1000 block.
Wheelchairs can't get through, and even single file walking is difficult and involves ducking under branches. On trash days the empty trash and recycling bins frequently block the sidewalk entirely.

Feces on Fairmont St Archiviert785 Fairmont St Nw Washington, District of Columbia - Columbia Heights
Over the last week I've spotted several bags of liquid feces left on the sidewalk around the 700 block of Fairmont St NW, along with an increase of dry feces left on sidewalk.
Yesterday I accidentally stepped on one, exploding all over my legs and sidewalk, with what looked like hundreds of live tapeworms mixed in. Before I could clean myself off, several neighbors tracked through it including at least one walking her dog.
This has become a public health issue that needs to be addressed. I haven't spotted. who is leaving these bags but there's been at least a dozen left in the last week.

Pedestrian Safety Program ArchiviertSherman St And Girard St Nw Washington, DC 20001 - Columbia Heights
This is a dangerous intersection for pedestrians. There is no light, the crosswalk is barely visible to cars, and cars rarely stop for pedestrians here.
During rush hour you can often see neighbourhood kids standing in the meridian waiting for an opening in 30mph+ traffic. Its only a matter of time before one of them is hit.
A cross walk light would be ideal.

Increased police presence needed Archiviert1525 Newton St Nw Washington, DC 20001 - Columbia Heights
There are frequent car break-ins, in broad daylight, in front of the St Stephen's Church and Urban Village apartments. Police presence in this neighbourhood is so light they apparently have no fear of being caught.
This week we a well organized group of young adults invaded offices at the church two afternoons in a row, with staff present, some of them distracting staff while their friends made off with valuable equipment. Police were nowhere to be seen as they ran down the street carrying the equipment.
Despite numerous police reports the DC police seem to be doing nothing to mitigate this rather disturbing increase of crime in this area.
