    Recology Strikes Again!

I had to avoid multiple piles of broken glass while driving through my neighborhood today - specifically on Fairview and along Greenfield. Not only is this bad for car tires, but also for people walking pets, since most of these streets don’t have sidewalks. I always know when Recology has been by because they usually leave it messier than it was. Today, and this is not the first time, they left piles of broken glass from their trucks, probably because the truck was full. You’d think they’d stop and go and empty the truck, but no, they drove down the entire street dumping piles of glass. Not only do they leave these messes, but they also have been leaving deep dark skid marks from braking too hard every 10 feet, which look awful (go look on bayview and mountain view). I’ve also complained about oil leaks from their crappy trucks that the city cleaned up one time, but instead they made an even bigger mess with the sand (I regretted reporting it). Oh, and the reason why our roads are so crappy is because of these huge heavy trucks. So yeah, Recology makes a huge mess of this city, which is ironic because they’re supposed to help clean it up. PLUS, THEY JUST RAISED THEIR PRICES!! DO BETTER!!

Recology trucks dumping oil all over the city streets. Reported this a while ago, noticed a fresh puddle in the same spot today, and they continue every 20 feet up and down the road all over the neighborhood. Who is going to clean this up, it looks awful!!!

City garbage trucks are leaking oil everywhere and destroying city streets. I've begun to notice the last few months patches of oil stains that occur every 10 feet or so down the middle of our street, and throughout the neighborhood. I finally put it together that the oil is leaking from the city garbage trucks that come by every Thursday (see photo). They stop every 10 feet in the same spots and dump their oil and leave. Now there are so many patches of oil on every street in the neighborhood it's becoming hazardous and looks really bad. Not only do they drip oil, but their big tires and constant braking also tear up the asphalt on the streets and create potholes (There is a separate ticket for that). I figured out the problem and where the oil is coming from, now you should figure out a solution. FIX YOUR TRUCKS - THEY ARE RUINING VALLEJO!!

FIRE HAZARD! There are four very large dead pine trees in the backyard of 169 Bayview avenue facing Greenfield and also in view from Tuolomne. These trees have been dead for a while now and are an enormous fire hazard and falling hazard. One flame near these trees on a windy day could cause the entire neighborhood to go up. We don't need a big fire in Vallejo, these trees need to be removed! Please!

Bayview Avenue is crumbling away. It looks like an eartquake fault is splitting the entire length of the street. Ever since the big trucks from Ghillotti construction spent months driving their big heavy trucks to fix the water lines, the street has been falling apart. I sweep up a pile of asphalt each week. Cars are forced to drive very close to parked cars to avoid these deep cracks. This is a very narrow one way street so we can't afford to lose any of the driving surface. Can you please add Bayview Avenue to your list of streets to be repaved!

A while back Ghilloti Construction updated the water pipes in the neighborhood which included digging a large trench and then repaving what they dug up. Problem is that they also removed half of the much-needed speed bump on the street. Now cars can avoid the bump by staying to the left of it and speed very fast down this one-way street. I have seen cars go double the speed limit and get very close to park cars while avoiding this bump. Can they come back and fix the speed bump they made useless? Someone is going to be killed one day!

There is a very visible homeless camp on the side of 80 near the Solano Ave. overpass going southbound. I know this is CalTrans property but the City of Vallejo must have some say to what CalTrans should focus on! After paying more attention to the stretch of shoulder on each direction of 80 running through Vallejo, the entire stretch is a huge mess. Overgrown weeds, areas that have been burnt, broken fences, trash. If I were driving through this town I would never stop because clearly the town must not care and be a dump too. I just moved to Vallejo a little over a year ago, and I know it has its problems, but at least hire a community service crew to clean up our shoulders on the freeway!

The trash and shrubbery at the beginning of Greenfield Avenue is getting out of control. It's also very dangerous to walk here since there are no sidewalks and the cars zoom by here very quickly. This is a nice area of Vallejo and cleaning up these easements should be a requirement! If not for beatification, but for safety!!!

Bayview Avenue is crumbling away. The Ghillotti Contruction company came through to update the water lines and destroyed this one decent street. There are gaps of broken asphalt all up the entire street, especially after the speed bump in front of 156 Bayview. On top of that, one of their construction trucks dumped an oily substance for about 100 feet from one of their trucks leaving a horrible, ugly oil stain (I have video proof of this happening). This is a nice neighborhood in Vallejo, but it's looking pretty shoddy these days and I'm embarrassed to call this my street. As you can see in this picture the once clean street is now full of cracks, asphalt chunks, patches and oil stains. Please help restore it's beauty!
