  • 178 Circular Street At York Avenue Saratoga Springs, NY - Saratoga Springs

This intersection is so dangers. North of York Avenue, Circular heads down a hill. So pedestrians trying to cross here, as well as cars coming from McTygue and York Ave, have a very difficult time seeing oncoming traffic. (Parked cars contribute to the difficulty also.)

This block has so many pedestrians - children and parents walking to and from one of the two elementary schools and playgrounds as well as bus stops within 3 blocks, and pedestrians of all ages going to and from downtown and to the nearby Farmer's Market.

There are numerous lights along the main part of Circular Street. North of Lake, there is an extremely long stretch without any lights or stop signs. A stop sign at York Ave would ease traffic dangers, and provide a safe place to cross for pedestrians.

By the way, there are dozens of children that live within a few blocks of this intersection. This has been reported to the commissioner of safety. They proposed having a patrol car look for speeders. However, speeding isn't the issue. It's the difficulty crossing safely, even with cars that are obeying the speed limit. Nothing has been done, unfortunately.
