There are some short term improvements that could be made to this area to help reduce accidents. For example, on the DC side, there is so much brush and many bushes that limit visibility. DC DOT could trim these tomorrow and help reduce traffic accidents and maybe even save lives.

Long term, there needs to be a complete re-design of the intersection, with one or more of the access roads into the circle closed or re-directed. This is a very dangerous intersection.

I agree, and bus drivers are particularly aggressive at the intersection.

Why can't MoCO add traffic lights to ALL 5 intersecting roads? Better than the free-for-all that ensues every rush hour.

I live right at the corner of this intersection and I agree that it's pretty bad. I think a roundabout could make more sense. The main issues include 1)westbound colesville drivers cutting off northbound and southbound drivers on 16th, 2) an awkward turn southbound from 16th onto eastern which can block traffic and 3) a traffic light on northbound eastern that's only green for 3 seconds.
