Between State Street all the way down to Mt. Hope Ave too many speeders are racing up and down the street night and day. This is very much both a Family neighborhood with kids and it also has the back entrance to the nearby elementary school. It is also where a park is where people walk their dogs. Most these speeders don't even live on our street but rather use is as a race way to get over to Garland or Mt. Hope. Since the street is narrow and curved and you add in the vehicles that are usually parked on the street and you've got a dangerous area. Not to mention since the city is terrible at plowing and sanding side walks there are too many areas where pedestrians are forced to walk in the street. I seriously believe that either a speed trap is in order (which could easily be set up on either side of Chapin park). Even though children that attend the school leave by 3:30pm there are still many kids and teens that play in both the park next door and the playground areas. Several times I was almost hit by speeding vehicles that are often going well over 25mph and in fact I've seen vehicles that could easily be clocked at 40 to 50 mph. Some of their engines make that revved up sound. Maybe several speed mumps could be put in. I'd like to see one down by the Apex gas station where the street is slightly curved as that is a very dangerous area. Then perhaps speed bumps near the park and so on. After nearly being run over again I realize I need to start making complains. Besides this is a very nice side of town and I'd like to see it stay that way that is why I'd also like to report suspicious activity that could be drug related in the back parking lot of the Abraham Lincoln school. I have seen vehicles park late at night and out of a near by window I have seen what appears to be money being exchanged for bags. I can't see them 100% but it's pretty obvious what's going on. So the schools cameras might want to be checked out. And one last thing that happens night & day are speeders trying to get away from cops on State Street so they will fly into that parking lot by the park and do a very fast U turn then wait to pull back onto Parkview Ave. Only a few times did I see a cop car come up the street after seeing the cars hide in that parking lot so I can't say 100% that is what they are using it for but again it's pretty obvious. I hope that something is done about this and if not and I ever hear about a person or child or pet getting run over by a speeder on Parkview Ave I'll have no choice but to make video blogs and and reach out to interest groups that will take care of it. It's been painfully obvious over the years that Bangor doesn't care about pedestrians nor does it care to take better care of the sidewalks or roads like other states, nor does it seem to do enough to curb negligent driving.
