Both vehicles have been parked on Hawkesbury at Ascot for a couple of weeks now. They are living in their vehicles as well as on the hillside behind the house on the corner of Hawkesbury and Ascot. They have also left garbage under a bush that leads up the hill. These people have moved from the open area under the high school baseball field to the neighborhood.

As of 7:00 am today there was another SUV with a man asleep in the front seat. Across from them a big pile of garbage and what looked to be feces.
This needs to be taken care of ASAP! Don't want my neighborhood looking like the rest of Vallejo!

The vehicles they live in have broken windows and are covered with aluminum foil. Also they have flat tired so it’s apparent they aren’t going to be moving.

At this point , since it's going to be a endless problem , the police need to issue tickets for parking beyond 72 hours and tow the vehicles.

We need everyone in the neighborhood to file complaints.

We definitely need more neighbors to be pro-active. There is now a pile of bikes and a car seat next to the suv.

We understand that you are shorthanded. Please explain why it is such a long process to remove illegal camps . Start with parking violations , trespassing, illegal fires, littering, it's our neighborhood.

Hello Charles absolutely I can explain the process.

The city of Vallejo has a no camping ordinance which requires the encampment to be posted for 7 days prior to clean up. If the campers move their encampments we must re-post and start the process all over again.

Typically we clean the encampments up and then the campers come back the same night, which is what is happening over at Jesse Bethel.

Once we clean up the camp it is considered abated and we must start the 7 day noticing over again. The ordinance does not allow us to clean encampments up due to public safety or fire hazard sooner than the 7 days.

We typically post 7-8 encampments each posting cycle but due to the amount of trash accumulated at each encampment the workers can only get to 1-2 encampments per cleanup day. This causes the encampments to take a longer period of time to get cleanup due to staffing shortages.

I’ve called the police twice in the recent past on them for arguing so loud it woke me up. They were throwing things at each other, screaming...the first time I called the police never came, only called me...the second time I called the police came to my house but would not go near the encampment.

Does the ordinance refer to cleanup abatement, or to illegally camping ? They seem to be two different issues . Can this useless 7 day , let's do it again ordinance be corrected...it seems like it is a ordinance left over from the 1880s .

I think it's time for the City to Implement a New City Ordinance regarding Camping in the City of Vallejo. Not Allowed Period.

I agree with Charles. This has gotten way out of control! I am thankful that the cars have moved, but it is not stopping the problem of the noise, fire, and not to mention all the garbage that is being left.
The City of Vallejo has become one big garbage dump.

Man in second picture (Audi 3UAS535) looks like he is camping in his car at the moment. Watched the man in the silver Honda civic (5K0J338) loiter around and walk to the encampment located on the hill behind the house on the corner of Ascot Parkway & Hawkesberry Way.
