With the exception of the influx of more vehicles driving around CV, I will be thrilled when this construction is over. There have been so many near misses and pedestrians look as if they are playing "Frogger" trying to cross at this intersection. I know the COR said they observed pedestrians crossing safely, but that's of little comfort to those who have to hoof it across.

I've referred this to our Public Works Department. When the staff has had a chance to respond I’ll post an update. Thanks for reporting.

I work at NC State and have reported this intersection many, many times. It's not safe for pedestrians. The fence was up against the street and there was no place safe to cross Oberlin as drivers zoomed right from Oberlin onto Clark because they could not see pedestrians. And JB is correct about the barrels. They go up randomly. There is no ways that all the laws are being followed here - I think somebody's pockets are getting filled because the City has ignored these issues for over a year now.

Per the Southwest District Station: This area was checked on Wednesday. It appears that it has the proper markings and only one lane is closed. The set up changes as to what they need to accomplish in certain stages of construction. We will continue to monitor. I thought permits were required to close off lanes of traffic.
I guess adding to the Tax Base is more important than making the Developers provide adequate traffic control markings. There are no advance warnings that the lane is closed ahead. Hopefully no one will loose life or limb during the builders "construction needs".

The two construction projects at the corner of Oberlin and Peace / Clark continue to close the road when ever they want and follow NO safety regulations or provide flag men. Will somebody have to be hurt or killed before the City of Raleigh does something?
