Thank you for contacting the City of Richmond. The Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Division for the City has received your complaint today regarding the property listed above and we have assigned a Code Enforcement Inspector to review the problem that you reported.
Thank you for bringing this concern to the City of Richmond, Department of Planning and Development Review, however, the Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Inspector has determined that there are no active code violations found on this property, identified above, at this time; however the Inspector will continue to monitor the situation in the future.
We are sorry but the address you provided, is not city owned property. The inspector has indicated that there are no violations at this property at this time. Please call us at (804)646-6398 and we will have the inspector speak with you about his findings.
Seriously?! The place is overgrown and it is city property. You yourself (city reps on SCF) have verified both of these facts numerous, numerous times before. And, yet, for months and months and months, this has not been resolved. Stop repeatedly closing this issue. It's embarrassing. For maybe the 5th time on this same issue, here's the info for the parcel from the city's own GIS mapping data:

10/29/2013 - Service Review: This matter has been referred from Code Enforcement to DPW for maintenance of a city owned vacant lot at 2308 Idlewood Avenue - Code Enforcement cannot force any action and ask DPW to please maintain this lot - referred to DPW for maintenance of City Owned Lot on SCF#-803630
I am referring this again to the Department of public works. I am not closing your issue, but instead will have one of the people at the call center respond to you. Hopefully we can get this resolved.

This one issue has been closed, reopened, passed around, supposedly fixed, reopened, and shuffled around for the better part of the entire year (under numerous SCF and City ticket numbers). It's such a stunning display of laziness and/or bureaucratic incompetence as to be almost comical. Seriously, City, how hard is this? By no means are we building the best Richmond possible here.
10/31/2013 - Hey Randolph - Again, this is being worked by DPW and referred to DPW on SCF#-803630 - please follow that ticket number at this point - this has to be moved from a Code Enforcement category.
The Property Maintenance Code Enforcement Inspector has indicated in the case file, that the reported issue(s) has/have been corrected to meet code regulations. Thank you for your patience in this matter.
@RVA Care Warrior, please help me out here ... On 10-31, you said that this issue was being moved to another, new SCF issue (http://seeclickfix.com/issues/803630). Then on 11-4, this issue was "closed" because it was "corrected to meet code regulations." Meanwhile there's no movement on http://seeclickfix.com/issues/803630 and, as far as I can tell, there was no change at the property itself -- in, oh, 7 months. I'm fine with this issue being closed and started anew with another entry ... but, if that's the case, can you/@CityofRichmond *please* take the extra minute to accurately note what's going on rather than blindly paste in (inaccurate) boilerplate text? Every time it seems like someone from the city is taking ownership on this issue or noting that it's been resolved, it only makes more work. Can we please just handle the issue? Does it take the better part of a year to mow .128 acres?
We are sorry but this SCF number must remain closed. It was assigned to Code Enforcement and each time we forward the initial comments to DPW, and then closed our case as this is a non-issue for Code Enforcement. You must use the correct SCF number that has been assigned to the City owned property at 2308 Idlewood Ave. which is 803630. We hope your issue is resolved soon. Please contact that department at (804)646-5391 or (804)646-5390 for further assistance in this matter.
11/7/2013 - Hello Randolph Ranger - Respectfully when you post requests online there may be time involved with not only inspections but also the actual maintenance involved - once a location is recognized as needing attention, planning/scheduling may normally need to take place for the task at hand because of the volume of tickets on hand. For this ticket (726049) the original location was listed as 2313 Idlewood and then the location of 2308 Idlewood was revealed as needing inspection which may take more time. Please keep in mind that submitting the precise location may bring a speedier turnaround and yes there is normally time involved with maintenance on many of these locations whether private or public.
At this point, please refer to SeeClickFix#-803630 for updates about this location. This is under the consideration of another department (DPW) and another ticket has been setup for monitoring/review with DPW staff
Honestly, @RVA Care Warrior, while I understand the logistics involved in handling such issues, the reality here is that this issue has had the correct address in the system for months and months and months under other SCF reports (and calls to the city), but you keep closing those and saying the issue is closed and handled when that is in no way true. The same issue then reappears under different addresses because you won't really handle it ... so it remains an eyesore ... and therefore different people keep reporting it using the best-guess addresses they can. (And don't get me started on the city closing issues where unmarked overgrown lots are reported using the closest obvious address and the city summarily closes it because it's not the right address, even when the right address is crystal clear.) Just get it done and we won't keep going in these circles. No joke, this has been an issue since at least May of this year.
