No abandoned bicycle

This corner is complained about a lot. I see no problem with it at all. There are lots of lovely plants growing there. This encourages beneficial insects. What is the value in a homogeneous grass lawn where no bees or other beneficial life can live? I say leave this corner alone. The grass length is fine, too.

The city owns the land here: a small strip along Arbana, from Linwood half way to Huron. There is a gap in the sidewalk on the other side of Arbana, so that makes the walk on this side is more important. The city chronically neglects to keep the sidewalk open in winter or summer, and to cut the grass in the easement.

In reply, I live in this neighborhood and have always found the sidewalks on the corner to be entirely usable. I am not sure why people complain about this corner all the time. It is quite typical of more natural lots and city property. Please do correct me if you feel I'm incorrect. Gaps in sidewalks are also fairly common in Ann Arbor.

Linda, evidently you don't use that sidewalk much in the winter. It's frequently not cleared of snow, and very icy. This stretch of sidewalk along Arbana is the only pedestrian connection out to the bus routes on Huron for a pretty big chunk of neighborhood. It seems to me it should be kept passable for people in wheelchairs or with otherwise limited mobility. That's the standard for all city sidewalks, and seems especially appropriate in this case.
