Wait. This is about building without a permit ? They are art. No permit needed for art in sorry. And if you look in code it states a size and shape of out door sculptures and these all comply within these codes :) as I read them. As a neighbor I am excited to have tiny town here and look forward to more artist participation in the future :) love this town

This place is an artist studio. Would someone from the mayors office such as Director of cultural Affairs, Wayne Atherholt help assist? This is not a construction issue, it is a cultural issue. It’s art!!

It’s an art studio, not a business. Check public records for a business license before making accusations. Or, go over a take a visit, it’s a great place and Dan is a very talented artist...... making art.....not a business.

This is not a business but rather a wonderful studio filled with works of the artist being unjustly reported. St. Pete is supposed to be an art city. Let's embrace our local artists rather than attack them!

This is an art instilation. And an amazing one at that. Its a wonderful tribute to old florida and it an exciting addition to our local art community. This project deserves to be respected as such.

Like previously mentioned, this is an art installation created by a true artist/visionary. It is sad and too common these days that people have no lives and/or are jealous of someone's success[es] that they have to complain to try to put a stop to it. Tiny Town is a gem in this burgeoning part of town and it is easy to see that it is art. To clarify, art is defined as the "expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power" and this is exactly what Tiny Town is, but on a grand scale. To those complaining, maybe take a moment to look closer at what is on display there; you'll be glad you did.

Tiny Town is an art installation! Further more, under the First Amendmend to the United States Constitution, citizens have a federal right to engage in expressive activity on their private property! Under the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the government may not enact content-based restrictions on expressive works on private property, without nartowly tailoring the restriction to a compelling governmental interest.

St. Pete wants to be the city of the arts, and needs to work with artists in a myriad of ways. Can Wayne Atherholt get involved and consult on this? Dan is an artist with a very unique vision. He is a sculptor whose work comments on structures, how we live, fantasy, among other things.
Whatever is between him and his neighbor should be worked out, but it is a shame that the city is letting itself be a tool in this dispute.

Tiny Town is an artist installation open to be viewed by the public. This is an artist studio that occasionally collaborates with other artists for the benefit of the community to share meaningful projects being produced in St Pete. This is not a rental space or a venue of any kind. This is the kind of space dedicated to bring arts awareness to the neighborhood on a human scale. I am grateful to have been invited to have this experience and look forward to many more.

Of course the complaint is lodged by "anonymous" - if you've got a problem with Dan Painter and Tiny Town, the problem is YOU.

Tiny Town is a fantastic art installation, and should not be assessed as a permanent structure as all of the exhibits are mobile and for sale. These claims are false and the accuser should be penalized for knowingly making false claims and wasting taxpayer money investigating this.

Tiny Town is an art installation, not a business. It is also one of the most innovative and exciting art projects in St Pete and deserves to be supported and celebrated, not attacked. Having artists like Dan Painter is an incredible asset to our city.

Update from Codes: case was investigated and closed with the following notes from the investigator:

"APRIL 2, 2019 - FENCE HAS APPROVED PERMIT FOR OVER HEIGHT. VACANT LOT / ARTIST STUDIO / SHED IS ALSO APPROVED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION WITH SUPERVISOR - PERMITED / APPROVED OVER HEIGHT FENCE. PERMITTED APPROVED SHED ONSITE. CAN NOT VIEW ANY OTHER VIOLATIONS AT THIS TIME"
