Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

  These potholes are a dangerous hazard to bicyclists, who must swerve constantly to avoid them and thereby risk exposure to following or oncoming traffic. If a cyclist hits one, an injurious crash will result. The City Attorney should consider this report to be formal actual notice under government code 835, making the City liable for subsequent injury arising from this condition.

  Cars continuously swerve to avoid aforementioned potholes also putting pedestrians at risk. These potholes are near school. Mountain Blvd needs to be completely repaved, not patching the holes as a temporary fix.

  From Woodminster Market on Mountain Blvd, to Ascot Drive, near the schools, there are, for over five years, almost 20 deep and dangerous potholes. I have cracked 3 alloy wheels because of this, since 2014, as sometimes, they cannot be avoided without putting drivers, and myself, in harm’s way! It’s as bad as Telegraph near 51st street! And why are we waiting so long?! Please. To just fix the wheels has cost $1500. That doesn’t count Re-alignment!
  It’s dangerous for bicyclists as well. I understand that PGE is being asked to assist with potholes. Could someone please do something?
