This used to be a beautiful and busy shopping center! Get out there and either fix it up so you can get some businesses interested, or tear it down! It has great potential.
It seems as though most people that comment on things around here want things DEMOLISHED! How about RENOVATING/RESTORING?There's already ENOUGH empty lots, and abandonment going on... Just like how the city of Lorain,is using Govt.$$$$$ to tear down"BLIGHTED PROPERTY"but I have yet to see the Mayor's picture at any BUILDING RAISINGS! "IT"S TIME TO REBUILD,NOT TEAR DOWN!!! That's why our neighbors in Avon,Avon lake,Westlake are GROWING and LORAIN IS DYING!
Our neighbors in Avon/Avon Lake/Westlake don't have the Section 8 issues we have. They don't have the public housing issues that we have. They have industry; we don't. Those three cities are very strict and enforce their housing codes; Lorain is still trying to get their heads on straight.
And not all properties can be rehabbed. Sometimes it's cheaper to tear down and rebuild.
I remember the two grocery stores, WT Grant Co., Hough Bakery, Hallmark Cards and many other fine establishments that were there. Now I bet that the only tenants are big rats and mice and lord only knows what else.
Keep your fingers crossed. Family Dollar has put up a new stand-alone building across the street, kitty-corner from its original location. As far as I can tell, there's nothing left in the plaza.
Thank you for submitting a concern to the City of Lorain! Lorain is now using SeeClickFix. All old issues are being closed. If this issue still persists, please resubmit it into one of Lorain’s categories to be addressed
