A number of packages were stolen off of our front porch on Tuesday. Heartbroken that we can no longer have things delivered to our house when we are at work.

This is a widespread issue, and the police can't be everywhere all the time, obviously. A few possible solutions for you:
1. Depending on where you work (that is, your employer's willingness to accommodate you), you may be able to have packages delivered at work instead of at home.
2. You can install a Ring or Nest system so that you're alerted on your phone whenever anyone approaches your front door. You've seen the ads. You get live video, you can speak to the person, or you can sound an alarm to scare them off.
3. You can sign up (I think—I'm unsure whether this is available yet locally) for either a lockbox program (container on your front porch that can be unlocked by delivery drivers) or an inside delivery program (I think only Amazon is offering this).

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I was also considering putting a note on our door asking the USPS/UPS carriers to leave the packages on our back porch. Not sure if they'll abide by that.
Either way, I wanted to get this posted on SCF so the police were aware that this theft occurred without my having to bother them with a phone call, etc.
