I've been living in Beaver Hill for a couple years now. I often use Goffe Terrace as a commute for work. It has happened to me twice in one day while going through the light at the intersection of Ella Grasso Blvd and Goffe-driving down Goffe Terrace that I almost was hit by the car coming through the Blvd intersection as the the Goffe light was already GREEN. This is a very dangerous intersection for people NOT paying attention to the light being red while the other is GREEN. The cars going down the Blvd are driving fast and could case a large amount of damage to another driver and/or pedestrian. PLEASE make this a safer intersection. It is very close to family communities, schools, and OTHER DRIVERS.

This is a problem at the ET Grasso/Goffe Terrace intersection and just about every other intersection in town. The Mayor has been pushing unsuccessfully for red light cameras; the lack of success I believe is due to reticence of our state delegation-you should call them- Toni Harp, Toni Waller, Gary Winfield Holder, Juan Cadaleria , Martin Loone, Roland Lamar, et al.
Go to your management team meeting and @#$%. Call the Mayor's office and the Chief of Police-you may be able to convince them to up enforcement.
In the meanwhile I suggest that you do what I do-never trust the green light when driving, running, walking, biking- whatever. Stop and make certain that every one is obeying the red light.

Occasional tickets might help, but currently there seems to be no way for the public to know where tickets are given and what they are issued for. The city gives out a lot of motor vehicle tickets but for all we know, they may be mostly be given for DUIs at downtown checkpoints or unregistered plates elsewhere. I
have the sense that very few tickets specifically for red light running are issued each year, particularly in the neighborhoods.
If you want to see change on this, please call the Mayor (203) 946-8200 and Rob Smuts (203) 946-7900, as well as your Alderperson.
You may ask them why there has been no action taken on request #1 within this letter, which was written by representatives of all 12 of the Community Management Teams, and many Alderpersons, about a year ago:

Me, without the consistent information that has been requested by thousands of people over the past 5 years, but never delivered by the city, there is no way to verify your claim (or to track it if, for some reason, an anecdote about ticketing is provided at one meeting).
In addition to the letter above, see the third request article here:

There are actually 3 mes. I'm me too. Apparently See Click doesn't have a limit on monikers.
To the issue. An incredibly dangerous intersection and has been for years. The only effort I've seen to ameliorate the situation is one of those blinking signs that tells you how fast you are going. I doubt anyone blasting through a red light really cares that may be exceeding the speeding limit.
The solution here needs to be traffic calming re-design of the intersection. Police enforcement doesn't work in these situations. They can go out and ticket for a few days, pick up a couple of lunkheads and then it's back to usual. In fairness the police cannot station a squad car or motorcycle at the intersection for weeks at a time.
The folks over on West Park Avenue got a large planter type installation installed to slow traffic down. Something like that needs to be place in the middle of this intersection. Something that requires drivers to make a slight diversion so they can't blast through. Maybe an obelisk or concrete planter or something else that you have to steer slightly around.
