At the power gas station on state street there is a bus stop with no light. I drive past every morning; there is a woman standing there alone. This isn't safe and needs a light so we can all stay safe and out is the dark with our belongings et cetera. Please vote

I like the idea of pedestrian-scaled lighting on State Street.
Check out this issue - 58 people have voted for it:

Please pass around Issue #9100 to more people - if there's a critical mass of votes, I think we have better grounds for working to address the issue. There are similar issues reported in other major commercial/transit corridors around the City so a comprehensive approach could prove fruitful.

You think we could raise the money for pedestrian scale lighting on Upper State from neighbors?
It would cost a couple hundred thousand dollars I'm guessing.

Ben - raising $100,000 up front from private citizens would be tough, I think.
Maybe a business improvement district could help, similar to how the Town Green pays for cleaning services in Downtown. To use a really rough example, if 100 property owners each paid $20 per year through the BID levy, that might raise $2000 per year, which could be enough to cover the interest on bonds needed for really good lighting assuming that the City or other actors also put in a match.
Unfortunately, if recent implementations of BIDs in our area have been bungled, then the public may not have confidence necessary to create another one unless we have better leadership.

I agree that could be a good first step. Plus, maybe the work could be done in phases, or perhaps done by an outside contractor at lower cost (this would require looking into the current arrangement that City Hall has with its unions).
The bus stop identified on this ticket seems like a good place to start.
