The paving project on Northampton Blvd remains in full compliance with City of Va Beach specification for pavement markings. Temporary markings are installed as required to ensure safety is maintained for the travelling public.

City staff has been working the contractor to maintain full compliance of all striping installation, yet weather will sometimes delay the installation of markings. Once the weather allows all markings are then installed as needed.

I drive Northampton Blvd. every day and the weather has not been an excuse-if asphalt can be installed so can temporary striping/marking. Perhaps you could review Section 512- Maintaining Traffic and Section 246 Pavement Marking of VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications. It is clear to this observer that the contractor failed to provide required construction pavement markings and continues to create an unsafe environment on a divided highway with a 55 mph speed limit. If after reviewing the specifications you still maintain nothing is wrong then I must ask you to have your supervisor contact me. Also 7 days seems too long for a reply when there is safety concerns.
