Beschreibung
There is a problem with an invasive species in the General Revelstoke area, Himalayan Balsam, that has long term implications. It dominates native species in any location where it is introduced. It is an annual with very little root system. The long term implications are the perennial native ferns and salmon berries establish themselves with a thick root network which helps to stabilize vertical topography. I brought this to the attention of both the regional district and the city in early summer with no results, now the balsam is going to seed along local road right of ways. The regional district actually have 3 persons on staff to supposedly deal with such matters. It would be kind to describe the lower levels of government ability to address the situation as inept.
