Beschreibung

Broken glass 3-4 places along sidewalk in between the billboards and the fire hydrant next to the levee entrance. It's been there for months and what does it take to clean it up? I have been walking by it every day!

Please remember that you are walking within the limits of the cities center of town which we admit can use a total rehabilitation project. Due to the miss-management of the city administrators not forecasting the down ward trend in appearance, conditions progressively went from bad to extreme and we ask you to please live with the cities blighted conditions for the foreseeable future. Somehow this will all blend in perfectly with the third-world type of population, temporary non-committed population and special needs rental society growing ten-fold within Ansonia as social services offices seek out such a town profile to flourish.
Please be careful as we do not want an injury to occur forcing another liability onto this prone city. Insurance premiums are going through the roof because city council is recklessly reporting claims washing his hands of an uncontrollable matter.

I know the area well as the entire appearance of the city. I needed to transition to a new job in Shelton.
I made mention of such deplorable conditions under your current mayors watch and it appears he enjoys living in such filth.

Well if u walk by it daily a good kind person would bring a bag to pick it up! Not complaint about it! I would pick it up if my Mr puppys was at any danger! STOP BEING A LAZY BUSY BODY! PICK IT UP TO HELP OUT!

Your'e right what does it take to pick up 3 or 4 pices of glass,
If you have seen it for months. WHY DID YOU NOT PICK IT UP!!!
Cant you bend over and pick it up? Oh I'm sorry you don't have the time, or it's not your problem,
Will IT IS your proplem and if you don't have the time the 1st sighting how about the next day you walked by or the next or the NEXT. People like you are one of the reasons we have such problems in the world today always waiting for someone else to do for you. Well honey its time to grow up and pickup.

I disagree. It is the responsibility of everyone who owns a property to pick up in front of their own property. What if this person picks up the glass and gets cut and needs medical attention? Who pays for that? Who ever owns that property the glass is on should pick it up and if it is owned by the city than the city should pick it up. Whether a person rents or owns everyone should keep their property clean.

This isn't 3 or 4 pieces of glass. If you read above it says "places"! They are smashed bottles on the sidewalk and as of 2 days ago they were still there. I don't believe anything is going to happen or what will happen is they will get swept over the river bank. There is also a shopping cart in the river close to the bank and it's been there for years. What I don't understand is that these are 2 minute jobs for a public works employee. Why aren't they being taken care of.

Christine Lester, I pick up enough litter thrown out car windows and from kids right in front of my home every day! I even walk around a few houses from me and pick up that trash. Listen sister I am grown up and a responsible homeowner in a multi family neighborhood. I am one of the few owner occupied homes and I take pride in my neighborhood so please don't bad mouth me without knowing my circumstances. It's too much glass just to pick up and I should not have to do it.

Instead of those of you who are pointing fingers at those of us complaining about this issue why dont you get mad at the city who is responsible through ownership of the property or by having people who get paid from our tax dollars to make sure this dont happen. I am also a homeowner in a heavily multi family neighborhood and am tired of cleaning everyone elses mess Its time those who own these homes and or property take responsibility or the city employess who are paid to stop this stuff do their job go after the right people stop blameing people who bring this to their attention. Its our tax dollars that keep increasing every year paying people who dont do their job.

If you go to Duchess during the week between the hours of 840-930 there are usually a few city workers there complain to them! On another note runners and walkers do not carry items to sweep up messes in front businesses!

Maintenance of sidewalks, including sidewalk repairs, trash and any other item is a responsibility of the property owner, not the city. This is a requirement by city ordinance and all property owners need to take an interest in maintaining their own property.

City workers are not paid to pick up property owned by absentee or irresponsible owners. You should not be demanding that tax dollars be expended to clean private property.

I feel so sorry for property owners who have to endure this crap day in and day out. It is "not" their fault that we have hoodlums throwing garbage from cars and breaking glass. It is disgusting. I have noticed myself everywhere in Ansonia and Derby. It is comIng from outsiders who don't care about destroying everything in gheir path.
