Why every single summer since your redid the field a number of years ago with tax payer dollars, do you allow the field to be closed and locked in the summer time? This is an insult to the tax payers in the area who pay for the field, and should have access to it. Change your policy and reopen the field the the property tax owners paid for, and should be able to use.

Here is the response I received from the Shoreline City Council:
"July 13, 2015
Dear Mr. XXXXXX:
Thank you for your email regarding the field at Syre Elementary School. The City Council requested that I respond to you on their behalf.
This field at Syre Elementary School is owned and managed by the Shoreline
School District and the decision to close the field is solely theirs. The School District is not within the purview of the Shoreline City Council. Any decision regarding the fields at any Shoreline school must be made by the District. You can contact the Shoreline School District Board directly with your request at school.board@shorelineschools.org.
Thank you again for writing. If you have any questions regarding City of Shoreline parks, please feel free to contact me directly at efreidli@shorelinewa.gov or by phone at (206) 801-2601.

Here is the response I got from the Deputy school Superintendent for Shoreline. What a crock of crap! We pay for it!! Everyone should contact her and tell her that!:
"Dear Mr. XXXXX,
I am so sorry you and your family are unable to use the field at Syre during
the summer time. School playfields get extremely heavy use on a daily basis
during the school year (around 450 active children use them daily for
recess, PE, and after school/weekend sports), and grass fields with that
type of use need 8 - 10 weeks each year to be top seeded, infill for patchy
areas, and given time to re-establish their roots. Without that rest period
the grass is not able to sustain itself. We shut the school playfields down
for maintenance/refurbishing during the summer so they will be ready for the
students to use when they return to school.
Thank you for supporting our schools and our students. We've learned
ongoing maintenance of the fields is necessary to be good stewards of your
investment and provide great outdoor spaces for students and community use
during the school year.
If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to let me know,
and I'll work with our maintenance staff to provide detailed answers. Thank
you for letting us know of your concerns.
Sincerely,
Marla Miller
