Beschreibung
The crosswalk/pedestrian signs at the intersection of West Avenue and Washington Street(Route 29) were installed without ever being checked for proper function.
For years, since new and originally installed, these crosswalks do not change for pedestrians when traffic conditions allow.
The signs always read DO NOT CROSS.
Merging traffic sees pedestrians crossing against a red 'do not cross' sign and do not offer the people using the crisswalk the right-of-way.
This is a constant danger for crosswalk activity and motor vehicle operators.Confusion abounds. There are plenty of horns and cars driving with people in the middle of the intersection, crossing the road and knowing that they are going to be annoying another driver/motor vehicle operator and are going to be in unnecessary danger because someone never checked the basic operating function of these signs when they were originally installed.

You can press those buttons until the cows come home and nothing will happen. The only one of those pedestrian button things that actually works and works well id on Broadway and Caroline.
During most of the day that West Avenue intersection is nearly impossible to cross. I jaywalk a little south of the intersection where it's a lot easier.
