It's the same streets over and over again. Oakland has no clue on what to do. All the money spent on cleaning these people up time and time again is not working. No one is holding the homeless accountable. Make some rules, find a big lot and that's where they need to camp. If Oakland is going to keep allowing this at least put up toilets so the rest of us don't have to smell the unsanitary conditions.

Wood has always been a dumping ground... at least in the 37 years I've been here. I like some of your ideas... now we just need to get the city power structure to implement it.

One part that seems to be missing is how to deal with the crazy ones. Many of these folks have a few screws loose, some more than a few. They need help, yet are too proud or too far gone to ask. So we need a way to rope them in... by force if necessary.

Agreed, I want my tax dollars spent else where. This band aid approach to the chronic homeless is ridiculous, a permanent solution needs to be discussed. I like SimplyBlu's suggestion. Designate a vacant lot, setup port-a-pottys and dumpsters. Seems like a cheaper solution then sending out the police to evict, and then a team of Public Works people to stand around, supervise and clean.
