It’s the property owners responsibility and they could be fined but Brockton never fines anyone so people never do it.

My husband cleaned the sidewalks of our house. My question is even for his/her own safety, why should someone not clean his/her sidewalks? Even if they are landlords, why the thought of being sued if a tenant slip and fall is not making them clean their sidewalks? Maybe it is they believe it's not their job. I remembered I slipped in front of a business. When I informed the business owner about that, he replied to me:"It's the building's owner job to clean the side. Me, I am just renting this place for business". I don't know if he's right or wrong. Maybe this information should easily accessible and widely spread. People's safety should everyone's concern as a community.

I saw on the news last week that the City of Boston fines their residents from $25 to up to $200 I believe if they do not clear their sidewalks within a certain amount of time after a storm. There are only a few people on my street who clear them, including myself. The city doesn't seem to fine people, and I think that's a big reason why Brockton continues to look the way it does.
