Thank you. The trash was removed this morning during the normal Wednesday pick-up. But the real issues are: (a) there are, I think, at least three apartments in the building (1302 Grove) and only one trash bin, so it is regularly overloaded; and (b) the trash can that is there is old, beat up and has no lid. The landlord needs to have TWO NEW TRASH CANS and to give proper instructions to his tenants as to how they need to take care of things relating to the trash. Basically, because the landlord suffers no consequences, he takes no action. It has been this way for years, and I am afraid that the only way to fix it is for us to keep complaining until the landlord begins to take his responsibilities seriously.
Your concern has been received however according to the Dept of Public Utilities the address 1302 Grove Ave only has one water account, therefore on one trash can is supplied. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at 804-646-7000. We appreciate your communication that helps us in “Building the Best Richmond” together.
First, the can that is there is old, beat up and has NO LID. Shouldn't it be replaced?
Second, the fact that there is only one water account seems irrelevant to the issue of overflowing trash bins. Even if the city doesn't supply the trash can for "free", shouldn't the landlord be required to provide (at his expense) enough cans for his tenants?
Your concern has been received and forwarded to the Department of Public Works (CRS# 20020959699) so that proper inspection and handling can take place accordingly. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at 804-646-7000. We appreciate your communication that helps us in “Building The Best Richmond” together.
The Department of Public Works did their assessment and determined that the assigned cans were found at the address, #00030244 other can #13092785. The City of Richmond supplies each resident one free supercan; if there's a need for more supercans the owner can purchase extra supercans which is conveniently added to the utility bill. If there's a need to purchase a supercan or if there's a supercan that is lost or damaged please contact the Customer Care Center at 804-646-7000.
