I am a hay farmer in this area. My mower takes up a portion of the other lane, it is around 11 ft wide. We move it in daylight with escort vehicles with flashing lights. We watch for traffic and pull it over every time we can to allow other traffic to pass. Agricultural equipment is not required to have plates. This is harvest season for potatoes and corn, both using large equipment. We have seen several totally crazy drivers this summer, do stupid things like speeding through corners on the wrong side of the road. This is an agricultural area and common sense and respect, from both sides is important. We try to do that as much as we can. Wish ALL drivers did that too.

I think the OP was trying to establish that the area in question is a 45MPH, to be around a corner at 45MPH or up a hill nobody could see in a blind area in due time. If a vehicle does the speed limit and hits equipment who is to blame? Is this road marked for agriculture equipment? If not perhaps DOT should be petitioned. No offense, orange lights anyone can get and put on their vehicles, some people feel if they have an orange light they are king of the road, some don't. Assuming you equip orange lights. Not many people pay attention to orange lights then they would other colors. That is why some areas got strict on at least having pilot cars/equipment marked to cover themselves from specific claims of damage. Sure if someone wants to do 90 on a road, then that is there problem. I don't think the OP wanted to question plates, but more so safety in the area. Unfortunately we can't assume everyone has common sense when they are behind the wheel, the State gives out licenses like candy.
