Figueroa between York and Colorado is an important and relatively direct connector route through a very hilly area which is incredibly dangerous for bicyclists. The addition of a bike lane would help traffic maintain speed while sharing the road. The road is not well maintained, especially on the shoulder areas where bicyclists prefer to ride. All the potholes force bicyclists toward the center of the road, which increases congestion due to the fact that in either the uphill or downhill areas, the bicyclists' speed is not a match for the cars. This causes frustration for the motorists and danger for all, especially the bicyclists. Ideally the bike lane would be between the parking lane and the curb, protected from the often very fast moving downhill (and uphill) traffic.
