We need stop signs or a light at Cabezon Blvd and Western Hills. The croos walk to the park is just asking for someone to be hit. NOBODY stops for crossing pedestrians!!!

This response is from City of Rio Rancho administration.
The crosswalk previously located at the intersection of Cabezon Boulevard and Western Hills Drive was moved this past spring to a new area on Cabezon Boulevard east of its previous location. This change was made to provide enhanced safety for those attempting to cross Cabezon Boulevard. A public meeting was held on February 16, 2011, at the Cabezon Community Center to get input from residents about the proposed crosswalk shift.
In reference to adding a traffic signal or additional stops signs to the intersection of Cabezon Boulevard and Western Hills Drive, this intersection has been studied and data indicated a traffic signal or four-way stop was not warranted using national standards the city’s Public Works Departments adheres to.
The city would like to place a roundabout at this intersection in the future to improve traffic flow, etc. Currently, funding for a roundabout at this location is not available (average cost for new roundabout construction/installation is $300,000 to $400,000).
