Did you feel a windstorm last night? I didn't. Anyway, there are three obstructions on Marshall's Hill trail and one obstruction on De Leo Wall trail. Just boughs, branches, small trees down. Cougar Mtn. Regional Wildland Park. I love this big beautiful park. Dwight, Renton, Wa.

Can we use the access trail from the new parking lot to the gravel road on pinnacle Peak? There are still signs that say the trail is temporarily closed yet the parking lot is open
  • Cougar Mountain Reg'L Wildland Park 7701 166th Way SE, Renton, WA, 98059, USA - King County
Tree down across East Fork Trail, about midway along it. Large sapling, still attached at the base and heavy, so we couldn't move it off. Can be stepped over. Sorry for no pic; my camera malfunctioned.

I realize that due to Covid 19 maintenance is behind, but I have never seen these trails at Black Diamond Open Space and Henry’s Ridge in worse shape in the 10 years I have used them. I am out on these trails 3-5 times a week so I have a vast knowledge of their historic maintenance levels and the current state is shameful. The amount of drainage issues along even the main cedar to green river railroad trail used by tons of people daily is especially horrid from the railroad to 288 leading to major trail widening. The scotch broom has almost taken over the trail under the power lines south of there. And there are large dangerous trees about head height hanging over the trail nearer to the very south end of the slough that I reported over 6 months ago. Most of the trails are so overgrown that we are in grave danger of loosing 30-50% of the trails west of the highway. The trails at Henry’s ridge such as the popular ‘Snakes loop’ have always been in stellar shape and never a maintenance issue, now these too seem like maintenance has stopped on them the drainage issues and blackberries and nettles is overwhelming. There is a weird section of soggy cedar/natural wood shredded mush placed purposefully on a logging road that has turned into a deep bog that you can neither ride or walk through it sucks you in like quicksand. Why?! At places on “mistress” it appears someone tried to officially put in drains, but they are all improperly placed right at the outside of every turn, not the inside; leading to major usage issues, and clearly many tire tracks sliding right into the drains and wrecks. It’s the exact opposite of good trail maintenance it’s worse and dangerous for riders like purposely putting in speed bumps or booby traps on a trail. I have seen more complaints in bike riding groups about the condition of these trails at the present.
If you want to be in charge of trail maintenance and refuse volunteer help then get busy, because local community members are starting to get upset that this area has been degraded in its quality by preventing scores of committed volunteers and their labor. You had a jewel of an amazing volunteer community who put in thousands of hours annually to keep these trails maintained and you have now prevented any volunteer maintenance and expect any work to be approved and done with “hand tools” like we are living in the 1800’s. It’s insanity, my time is more valuable then clearing 80 miles of nettles and blackberries from trails with garden sheers and honestly you need some serious power tools and about a team of 50 working all summer to get this whole trail system back to their previous glory.

This failed experiment of running off volunteers and donated labor is costing me as a tax payer valuable resource dollars and leading to a reduced service. Instead of a fraudulent waste of tax dollars; perhaps partnering with and encouraging neighborhoods to get back out and adopt their local trails would be a great idea to get us back on track. We have a long way to go and lots of work to get there and it’s going to take a huge group effort. It’s a far superior system with much better results then the currently very sub par nearly unusable in areas trail status we have at the present.

    1. tree partly blocking lower part of Hermit trail, perhaps 50 yards down from Road H. Also large tree over trail. Please cut so horses can easily get through at the run, so 10 feet wide.
    2. brush poorly cut on lower Sherwood trail between Roads A and A, please cut so horses can get through, very narrow now.
    3. Tree poorly cut on short trail between Road A and Road coming from 208th trailhead, please cut so horses can get through.
    4. Tree poorly cut on upper Boot trail. Please enlarge the opening so horses can easily get through. This is a large tree which has fallen over the trail and has been cut already but opening is very narrow, fine for hikers but too narrow for horses.

    Thank you for your help!

The eastern section of the Lake Youngs Regional Trail needs gravel for safe bike use and remain accessible during the rainy season Medium size rocks and concrete are exposed in Trail that are hazards to bike riders that may throw the rider off the trail or into the fence I can organize a small group to spread gravel onto trail if you can arrange to dump a load nearby.
  • 25600-25698 E Lake Wilderness Dr Se Maple Valley, WA, 98038, USA - Maple Valley
The Green to Cedar River Trail used to be gravel covered. I am specifically referring to the section between 4 Corners/Katesridge Bridge and the Lake Wilderness Lodge. For the most part all of the gravel is gone and it is just smooth dirt which gets very slick and muddy when it is at all wet. I slipped several times walking my dog on the trail today. Overall I think it should be paved at some point but at the very least I think it should be re-graveled for safety of walkers and bikers. Thanks!

Sammamish River Trl Redmond, WA, 98052, USA - Redmond

This is my semi-regular reminder to King County Parks that large numbers of people are riding electric vehicles on the Sammamish River Trail through Redmond, Woodinville, and beyond. This is despite the fact that King County code clearly states that electrified vehicles are NOT allowed to be used on any King County trail. The problem gets worse every month. Now I see people riding fully electrified mopeds traveling 35+ MPH.

I have notified you of this problem multiple times and you have done absolutely nothing. No enforcement, no signage, nothing.

I am saving all of these notifications so that when I hear of someone getting hurt or killed by someone riding one of these electrified vehicles, I will be able to give these notifications to the plaintiff's attorneys. King County is going to get sued for millions and you will definitely lose.

neighbors to the north of cedar Creek Park are firing guns. unknown direction, but from topographic maps it appears the park is their backdrop. this makes the trails unusable when they are constantly shooting. county map shows their land is not in a "no shooting area" how do we get this changed as more and more development occurs?

The lights on the Burke-Gilman underpass at 68th are not on. There is also someone living there, so it would be helpful if the lights were on so I don't run over him or any of his belongings on my commute when it's dark.

Illegal ebike use on the Black Diamond Open Space and Henry's Ridge trails. This is an ongoing problem and there is no enforcement. Simply visiting the trailhead on occasion and issuing tickets or warnings to the ebikes in the parking lot would go a long way. Please enforce your laws so that users can enjoy a nonmotorized experience on these nonmotorized trails.
  • 26400-26510 Se Grand Ridge Dr Issaquah, WA, 98029, USA - King County
ebikes continue to illegally use the Grand Ridge trail. Please enforce the rules so that users may enjoy a nonmotorized experience.
